Our story

From Partition to your doorstep.

In 1947, Lala Gangaram Adlakha arrived in Delhi from what is now Pakistan and started again with cloth in Karol Bagh: one counter, a wooden measuring yard, and a promise of good cloth at a price a working family could pay.

Since 1979 that counter has stood in Connaught Place, and the fourth generation of the family stands behind it. We have never advertised in 79 years; our customers did that for us. Now the same shelves are open to all of India, and posted worldwide.

My mother bought her wedding saree here. Now I buy mine. The cloth is real and the price is always fair.

I ordered two cotton suits and they reached Lucknow in four days, exactly the colour shown. Very honest people.

For festival shopping I do not go anywhere else. They remember what my family likes after all these years.
